The Latter-day Saints moved into an office building above the Cafe Raven, "free of rent and utilities," after months of meeting in Esther Beck Harper's home. The church services only included Sunday school and sacrament, but after they purchased three dozen metal folding chairs, three dozen hymn books, and a sacrament table with chairs, it felt more like a church. On August 17, 1955, a one acre lot was purchased for the construction of a new building. By June 11, that same year, the building was up and ready for Sunday school the next day. The building had a tiny chapel with five pews, two classrooms and a cultural hall, which is also the gym.
